ECO Funding is available to qualifying customers to provide FREE OF CHARGE home insulation and boiler replacements.
It replaces the previous CERT and CESP grant schemes, and is aimed at reducing carbon emissions and reducing household energy bills.
Not to be confused with the Green Deal – which is a means of financing energy efficient measures via repayments via your electricity meter – ECO means FULLY FUNDED measures that do NOT leave you with a bill, or a charge.
There are 3 separate streams of funding available.
CERO – The Carbon Emission Reduction Obligation
CERO funding is focused towards insulating certain categories of building – either those with solid walls, or those with what are known as Hard to Treat (HTT) cavities. These constitute the types of property that have not been insulated in the past. This because there were not suitable systems available to do the work, or more often because it has not been financially viable to do so.
They are several categories of HTT cavity that qualifying for funding:
Narrow cavities: Properties where some or all of the cavities widths are between 40mm and 49mm wide. Products are now available and more importantly certified by the BBA to insulate cavities of this size.
3 – 5 storey properties: Because of the costs and sometimes complexities of insulating properties with multiple stories, they have been largely avoided in the past. Funding is now specifically aimed at ensuring they can be insulated.
Partially filled cavities: As building regulations changed from the 1980s, properties were constructed with a rigid insulating board inside the cavity. These boards do not meet current insulation standards, and systems are now available to increase the insulation by filling what is known as the residual cavity. Again funding is specifically set aside for this work.
Remedial work: some properties have problems that in the past mean they were not suitable to insulate. Funding is now set aside to bring the house up to suitable standard in order it can be insulated. This covers such works as damaged render, or blown brickwork., leaking downpipes and gutters, or the clearance of rubble from inside cavities.
CSCO – Carbon Savings Communities Obligation
CSCO funding is aimed at specific areas where it is felt additional help should be given to reduce carbon and save money. Call 0845 2962 660 and our team will tell you if your property is in a CSCO area and so qualifies for FREE cavity wall and loft insulation.
HHCRO – Household Heating Cost reduction Obligation
HHCRO funding is subject to the occupier of a property being in receipt of certain qualifying state benefits which entitles them to fully funded cavity wall and loft insulation AND a replacement high Efficiency A rated combination boiler. The boiler needs to be inspected by one of our qualified Gas Safe Technicians and signed off as working inefficiently, and if so we can replace that FREE OF CHARGE as well.
